Halloween has come and gone and now I am coming up to bonfire night with a cold. The Halloween weekend distracted me a little with horror games and pumpkin festivals but now i'm back in routine and want to get back to my projects!

I made a small amount of progress on the Wwise project since last post. My focus was on the hovering platform. I had the idea that I wanted it to sound very high tech just because of how it is floating so effortlessly without fault. It feels like it should almost be silent with how clean the movement is. Unfortunately this project doesn't have the room to not utilise sound and this platform will be the perfect example of localised ambient background noise. If it couldn't be silent then my next best idea was that whatever sound it created had to be harmonic in character.

I settled on a looping sample of my own fan heater that was heavily EQ'd to resonate at 391Hz, slightly flat of G4. I also resonated the 5th interval of that note on top to created a sort of neutral chord. This was all does by ear with no reference, not because I have perfect pitch or anything like that but rather because I wanted it somewhat natural feeling. From a narrative aspect I wanted it to feel like the harmonic nature of the platform wasn't intentional but rather a fun quirk of good engineering. I pared this with a soft thud for when the platform suddenly changed directions. This one is now sitting in draft ready for Wwise import. I figured that once I draft all of the sounds I can pull them into Wwise just to see how they sound together in action.

Outside of this fun little dive into sound design there hasn't been a tone of movement. Im hoping to change that this week as long as this cold doesn't hit too hard.
