It would seem that my interview for the music teaching job went well. I have been offered a spot in the second stage assessment. This will be an in person event in Bath. I have been given a song to learn that I will have to play alongside other applicants. The idea is that we each take turns on all of the instruments to demonstrate our ability to adapt to musical requirements. From the sounds of it, this will be less about our playing ability and more about how well we can adapt and engage with the requirement. I have a feeling that they have been purposely vague about what parts of the song to learn on each instrument. That way we have to kind of figure out between us how to best pull things together accounting for everyones skill on each instrument. That is why I will be putting a big focus on communication skills while prepping. The song itself is fairly easy, putting it together will be the tricky part. Outside of the musical bits I have no doubt there will be a fair few questions around working with children in general. I will do some prep for this also as it is new to me. Hopefully my experience as a father will help me out there. I have till Wednesday to get a strategy together.

Back in the studio I had some good news, the blinds are finally on their way! After two delays from the supplier I have finally had the "out for delivery" email. I really cant wait to actually feel like I have privacy in my own space. No more wondering who can see me while i'm recording. I admit it may sound a little silly getting so excited about blinds but I feel it is justified. In my mind, one of the most important enablers of creativity is having a space you feel in control of. Like a creative bubble of sorts. I can bring what I want in and out of the space so I can feel comfortable and enabled. I think this kind of control might play a part in why the term "bedroom producer" is so popular. For most children and young adults, the bedroom is the only space they really have any control over. Often great works of art come from these kind of spaces. I just know I am lucky to have a dedicated space to hold my creative bubble, and soon it will be a bubble with blinds!
