Linking in With Work Opportunities

This week has been a little more hands off with the creative stuff and more focused on work connections and opportunities. Im always feeling like could benefit from more in my portfolio but what I don't tend to think about enough is where my portfolio is actually going to been seen and valued.
For a while I have been on and off checking r/INAT and other such subreddits to see if there is anything interesting to get involved in. I have seen a few things that peaked my interest in the past however I never really got anywhere with them. This week particularly I have been feeling the urge to be more purposeful with my searches. I started working on a collection of potential sources that could get me the connections I need to get involved with more projects. Right now this is just a rather extensive list of subreddits however I intend to go beyond just Reddit. The idea is that I set some time aside each week to go through the list and actually engage with the opportunities I see. I feel like it is good to just been seen in these spaces and for people to know what you can do for their projects. If i'm lucky I will pick up some good portfolio fillers and gain some hands on experience. Its been a while since I have really been committed to a project group in this way and I feel like right now it would be good to have at least one thing like that going at all times. The searches start now and hopefully it will give me plenty to blog about.
Over the last week I have also been taking a deeper look at another site I could benefit from. For a long time I have had an account on LinkedIn that I have never really used in a serious way. Iv always been aware that it is good for networking in the professional world but I struggled to get any real use out of it. I think it may be worth looking into some guidance on the app and really reaching out to the kind of companies id like to work for. Right now I do not feel like I have the networking experience or portfolio to get a creative job with a serious company but I don't necessarily have to get in the door as a creative. I have other skills that would be valued in a corporate environment that would at least get me closer to the career circles i'm looking for.
So i'm going to keep pressing on with my networking as well as my creativity. It seems like its the best way if I really want to take myself into this kind of career path. All it taking is getting that professional experience.
